THE FIRE TRIANGLE As a triangle, Fire needs three elements- Fuel- Oxygen ,heat. To understand the reaction one of the best example is getting back to the everyday life. Most of us know to create fire in a camp… By rubbing fast by a pointed stick through dried grass and the fire initiates….. There were initially only two elements present- Oxygen in the air and the dried grass as Fuel. By rubbing we create the heat required. Once there is enough heat, all the three elements are present and a fire starts. The Fire will continue till all the three elements are present. The grass burns in an exothermic reaction and releases heat. The Fire can be extinguished by removing any of the three elements. Air can be removed by using a carbon dioxide extinguisher, Or covering the grass. Heat is removed by using a coolant such as water. Fuel is removed by preventing the Fire to come in contact with more Grass. FIRE EXTINGUISHER A fire extinguisher, or extinguisher, is an active fire protection device used to extinguish or control small fires, often in emergency situations. It is not intended for use on an out-of-control fire, such as one which has reached the ceiling, endangers the user (i.e., no escape route, smoke, explosion hazard, etc.), or otherwise requires the expertise of a fire department. Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent which can be discharged to extinguish a fire.
CO2 Type extinguishers
